God tells Elijah that Elisha will become prophet in Elijah’s place (1 Kgs 19:16-18)

Elijah ascends to heaven (2 Kgs 2:1-18)
Elijah and Elisha travel from Gilgal to Bethel, to Jericho, and then by the Jordan River. Chariots and horses of fire separate them and Elijah goes up to heaven by a whirlwind, leaving his cloak behind with Elisha (2 Kgs 2:1-14).

Through a musician, Elisha prophesies that Moab will be given into the Israelites’ hands and that the Lord will cause pools of water without wind or rain (2 Kgs 3:13-19).
The next morning, the sun shines on the water that had come from the direction of Edom. It appears to the Moabites as blood. The Moabites think that the kings fought each other and caused much bloodshed. The Moabites want to charge at the spoil but are caught in a surprise attack by the Israelites (2 Kgs 3:20-25).
