The initial narratives (Jn 1:35-51) record the calling of the first disciples.
The disciples were present as key witnesses or participants in many of Jesus’ works (Jn 2:1-11; 13-22; 6:1-71; 9:1-4; 11:7-16)
Beginning with the footwashing, Jesus spent His final hours with the disciples ([bible text=”chapter 13” ref=”Jn 13:1-38”])
Jesus focused His attention on the disciples in His teaching about the harvest (Jn 4:31-38) and in His lengthy discourse in [bible text=”chapters 14-16” ref=”Jn 14:1-16:33”].
Much of Jesus’ prayer in [bible text=”chapter17” ref=”Jn 17:1-26”] concerned the disciples
Jesus appeared to the disciples after his resurrection and gave them His commission (Jn 20:14-29; 21:1-23)
