History of True Jesus Church Seremban | Audio
It was through the help of the Holy Spirit Times that the truth was preached to Seremban. In 1929, a person by the name of Chin Sze On (who was later ordained as Dn. Matthew Chin of Kuala Lumpur) sent a copy of the Holy Spirit Times from Batu Arang to his uncle Chin Toh Yin (who was a preacher of the Seventh Day Adventist Church) in Seremban. After reading the Holy Spirit Times, Chin Toh Yin was deeply moved and in a dream, God revealed to him the need to reform the church. God wanted him to leave the Seventh Day Adventist Church and joined the True Jesus Church. Towards the end of the year, he left the Seventh Day Adventist Church. The following year, he joined the True Jesus Church and was baptized on 8th February 1930. Later, he was ordained as Elder Zephaniah Chin (father of the late Dn. Peter Chin of Kuala Lumpur).
After Elder Zephaniah Chin was baptized, he returned to Seremban to preach. He advised Auntie Chin Fah (a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church) and her household to leave the Seventh Day Adventist Church and joined the True Jesus Church. She was the mother of Bro. Chin Kong Foo. After their baptism, Auntie Chin Fah and her family travelled to Pudu Church to attend services. They continued to do so for nearly a decade.
In 1940, the prayer house in Seremban conducted proper services with the Holy Communion sacrament conducted monthly by Elder Zephaniah Chin and Dn. Titus Lim from Kajang. The prayer house was then at Cameron Street, Seremban. Services ceased during the Japanese occupation. The Chin family continued attending services in Pudu Church, Kuala Lumpur. In the beginning of 1955, the members returned to hold services at 43, Cameron Street, Seremban, next to the former prayer house. The house belonged to Bro. Chin Long Yin, the father of late Pr. Simon Chin and the fourth son of Auntie Chin Fah. In 1957, the prayer house shifted to Bro. Chin Kong Foo’s house and services were held once a week. Dn. Titus Lim and Dn. Philip Foo were jointly in-charge of the prayer house until 1960 when the young Dn. James Chin was ordained. Later, the members purchased a terrace house to be used as the new place of worship. It was dedicated to the Lord on 15th July 1979. The cost amounted to about RM 34,000.
Thank the grace of our Lord Jesus, it has been 33 years since Seremban church’s last dedication on 15th July 1979. During that period of time, signs and wonders happened and membership increased under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Some believers have become zealous while others preserved their faith.
Before year 2002, we kept looking for a more suitable chapel because our children and youths were gradually increasing and religious education (RE) teachers did not have a conducive environment to teach due to our lack of RE classrooms and facilities. If this were to continue, our children who are the future pillars of the church will be affected in their spiritual growth. Our brethren showed great concern and prayed to God always about this matter Thank God that everything had His beautiful will and everything He will prepare. God heard our prayers. During our Seremban church AGM, members agreed to discuss with GA about the feasibility of using the GA building in Seremban 2 as the place of worship. Later, GA also agreed to allow Seremban church to use the building on condition that the Seremban church shall make an offering of RM 500,000 to GA within a period of 20 years.
Renovation works started in the beginning of year 2002 and was completed in June 2002. Dedication service was conducted on 4th August 2002 during the Southern Region Spiritual Meeting. Apostle Paul said, “To make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless” (Eph 5 : 26-27).
Thank God, since then, from year 2002 to 2012, our Seremban church has grown and developed in the works of ministry and truth under God’s guidance and the help of the Holy Spirit. The church has also established the Evergreen choir over the decade. The Evergreen choir consists of about ten members and has practice sessions on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.
It is hoped that in the coming years, the Seremban church will achieve all-rounded progress in worship, religious education, evangelism and spirit of servitude and other aspects, so that lowly and unworthy servants like us can also imprint our beautiful footsteps in the history of God’s kingdom and His works of gospel, and be remembered forever by God. Amen!
